Matching Solar Panels to a Power Station

Use the solar input specs printed in your power station's manual (max input voltage range and max watts) and your panel's label (Voc and rated W).

Default values are examples only; enter the numbers from your own equipment. Exceeding the input voltage can damage the station; exceeding the watts usually just caps output, but follow the maker's guidance. Parallel connections add current, so check the max input amps too. See series vs parallel and the power station comparison.

Safety: These are general estimates, not a design. Follow your equipment manufacturer's instructions and local electrical code, and consult a qualified electrician for anything connected to shore power, a house, or high-current batteries.

FAQ

Can I use any solar panel with my power station?

Most work if the voltage stays within the station's solar input range and the connector matches (often via an MC4 adapter).

Why add 10% for cold?

Panel open-circuit voltage rises as temperature falls, so a string that is fine in summer can exceed the limit on a cold morning.
